I won a free pair of SmartWool socks at a half marathon raffle last year. So i tried them out. I was hooked after the first couple of runs. They are so comfortable. They do a excellent job of preventing hot-spots on my feet and have excellent moisture control. I also noticed that my feet didn't over heat in wool on hot summer runs. I initially thought they would be great for spring and fall running when the weather was cooler, but i use them all year round. I've bought 7 pair of socks since getting my first pair. I've found that they last about a season and then you'll have to replace them. They tend to shrink after a couple of washes so buy them just a bit big. I am on my feet all day, around 10-12 hours with high top boots, and these socks do a good job at keeping my feet dry by wicking away the moisture. I like that fact that these socks are light and thin, as they are great hot weather socks. However, due to the thin nature of these socks they seem to wear out rather quickly in my opinion. I usually get around 4-5 months of every other day use before they start to wear out and develop holes. Again, these socks are rather thin and that might just be the nature of the beast when it comes to having a sock that doesn't keep your feet too hot. I recommend these socks but cannot give 5 starts due to the price that you must pay. Fits perfectly and with the right amount of cushioning throughout. Keeps my feet warm and dry when I'm running in about 30-50F. Makes the running shoes extra comfortable and I can really notice the difference. Don't put them in the dryer though or they will shrink! I hand-wash them and hang dry them to keep them from shrinking. Bought them at Road Runner Sports thru Amazon. |
